Making a Difference: One Million Women for Women

As the Co-founder of OneSeventeen Media, a woman-owned business, I’m dedicated to advancing the cause for women entrepreneurs every chance I can find. And, as a mother, I’m dedicated to advancing the cause for mothers everywhere as they struggle to support their children and families.

That’s why what our friend, Judy Patrick, CEO of the Women’s Foundation of California, and her team are doing is so critical to the future of women. Not just in California, but everywhere.

Harvard Professor and child psychologist Robert Coles stated in his book The Moral Intelligence of Children, that our children are “ever-attentive witnesses.” What are we doing with our lives that we want our children to model — beyond posting our latest profile in LinkedIn, responding to “What are you doing?” in Facebook or espousing our latest “aha” as a tweet on Twitter?

What are we passionate about? Is that passion exhibited in a proactive way? Are we supporting the causes that mean something to us, not just with lip service ,but with active participation? What messages are our children taking away from our action…or inaction?

Judy is someone who inspires us.  Check out her work through their recently launched One Million Women for Women Campaign. They’re seeking to raise just $10 from 1 million women. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter or simply check out their web site

Judy is a great example of someone who has chosen to take a leadership role in dynamically transforming her community, the type role model we want to hold up to our young PlumbBrain members.
